About the Role
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Learning Support Assistant (LSA) to join our supportive alternative provision setting in Slough from September 2026.
This is a rewarding opportunity for an experienced LSA who has a strong background supporting pupils with Special Educational Needs (SEN) and understands the importance of creating a safe, structured and inclusive learning environment.
The successful candidate will work closely with teachers and support staff to provide tailored support for pupils with a range of additional needs, helping them to access learning, develop confidence and achieve positive outcomes.
Experience working within SEN settings, alternative provision, or with pupils who may present with challenging behaviour is highly desirable.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide one-to-one and small group support for pupils with SEN and additional learning needs.
- Support pupils' academic, social, emotional and behavioural development.
- Assist teachers in delivering engaging and accessible learning activities.
- Adapt support strategies to meet individual pupil needs.
- Build positive relationships with pupils to encourage confidence, independence and engagement.
- Support pupils with emotional regulation and behaviour management strategies.
- Work closely with teaching staff and other professionals to support pupil progress.
- Promote safeguarding, wellbeing and inclusion throughout the setting.
- Monitor and provide feedback on pupil progress and engagement.
- Help create a calm, positive and structured learning environment.
- The Ideal Candidate Will Have
- Previous experience working as a Learning Support Assistant, Teaching Assistant or similar role.
- Essential experience supporting pupils with Special Educational Needs (SEN).
- Experience working in an alternative provision, specialist school or challenging learning environment (desirable).
- Experience supporting pupils with social, emotional and behavioural needs.
- Strong behaviour management and communication skills.
- A patient, resilient and nurturing approach.
- The ability to build positive relationships with pupils who may require additional support.
- A flexible and proactive attitude towards supporting pupils and staff.
- An Enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service (or be willing to obtain one).
