A specialist SEN setting in Buckinghamshire is seeking an experienced and compassionate SEN Teacher to join their team. The school supports children with profound autism, many of whom are pre-verbal, and provides a nurturing, structured environment tailored to individual needs. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with a proven track record of delivering meaningful progress in a highly specialist setting.
The Role
- Plan and deliver personalised lessons for pupils with complex needs and limited or no verbal communication
- Create structured, consistent routines to reduce anxiety and support engagement
- Use a range of communication methods, including PECS, Makaton, Sign-Along, and visual supports
- Embed sensory regulation strategies into the daily timetable
- Work closely with a multi-disciplinary team of therapists and support staff
- Lead and support a team of Teaching Assistants to deliver high-quality care and education
- Monitor and report on pupil progress, contributing to EHCPs and review meetings
What We’re Looking For
- A qualified teacher (QTS or equivalent) with proven experience in SEN
- Specific experience supporting pre-verbal children with complex autism
- Confident in using alternative and augmentative communication (AAC)
- Skilled in working with sensory processing needs and behavioural support strategies
