About the Role

This role is focused on providing dedicated one-to-one support for a child with SEN in EYFS class in a mainstream school. You will work closely with the child throughout the day, supporting their learning, communication, behaviour, and emotional wellbeing, while helping them to access nursery routines and activities. You will follow and contribute to individual support plans, adapt activities to meet the child’s needs, and work alongside the wider nursery team to ensure consistent and inclusive support. The role also involves observing progress, encouraging independence, and creating a calm, safe, and nurturing environment where the child can thrive.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Providing one-to-one SEN support throughout the nursery day
  • Supporting communication, interaction, and play-based learning
  • Helping the child engage with activities and daily routines
  • Supporting emotional regulation, behaviour, and social development
  • Working closely with staff and following individual care and support plans
  • Supporting communication using PECS, Makaton, and other visual strategies

What We’re Looking For

  • CACHE Level 3 Childcare qualification (essential)
  • Experience supporting children with SEN
  • Patient, caring, and confident in supporting additional needs
  • Good communication and teamwork skills

Essential Requirements

  • DBS registered on the Update Service (essential)
  • Right to work in the UK
