We are seeking an experienced and compassionate Behaviour Support Worker / Behaviour Mentor to join a specialist primary SEN school supporting children aged 4–11 with complex learning needs, including Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD), Profound & Multiple Learning Disabilities (PMLD) and Autism (ASC). These pupils benefit from highly individualised education integrated with therapeutic support and personalised behaviour strategies.
About the Role
- Provide 1:1 and small-group behaviour support throughout the school day
- Implement positive, restorative and trauma‑informed behaviour strategies to promote engagement and self‑regulation
- Work with pupils with SLD, PMLD and associated communication, sensory or physical needs
- Collaborate closely with teachers, SEN support staff, therapists, and external professionals to ensure consistency of approach
- Contribute to behaviour plans, functional assessments, observations and tailored interventions
- Support pupils’ social skills, emotional regulation, resilience and independence
- Help maintain a safe, calm, structured and nurturing learning environment
What We’re Looking For
- Experience supporting pupils with SEN, especially SLD, PMLD or Autism
- A strong understanding of positive behaviour support and de‑escalation techniques
- Patience, empathy, resilience, and a consistent approach
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills
- Ability to build trusting, respectful relationships with pupils
- Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (essential)
