SEN Teaching Assistant - Reception

Role: 1:1 SEN Support
A welcoming and supportive primary school based in NW10 is looking for a caring, patient and committed SEN Teaching Assistant to join their Reception team. The successful candidate will provide 1:1 support to a child with additional needs, helping them to feel safe, included and confident within the classroom environment.
This is a rewarding opportunity for someone who is passionate about supporting children with Special Educational Needs and wants to make a genuine difference to a child's learning, communication and development.
About the Role
- Provide dedicated 1:1 support to a Reception pupil
- Support a child with Autism and ADHD
- Support a child who is non-verbal, helping develop communication and engagement
- Assist the pupil with accessing learning and participating in classroom activities
- Adapt activities and approaches to meet the child's individual needs
- Support communication, social development and independence
- Use positive reinforcement to encourage positive behaviour and engagement
- Build a strong, trusting relationship with the pupil
- Help identify and respond appropriately to the child's individual needs and triggers
- Work closely with the class teacher and wider SEN team
- Follow individual targets, strategies and recommendations to support the pupil's development
- Create a calm, safe and inclusive environment where the child feels supported
What We're Looking For
- Previous experience supporting children with SEN is desirable
- Experience working with Autism and/or ADHD would be advantageous
- Experience supporting non-verbal children would be beneficial
- A patient, caring and nurturing approach
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills
- Ability to remain calm and consistent when supporting challenging behaviour
