A welcoming school in UB3 is seeking a reliable and proactive School Caretaker / Maintenance Assistant to join their site team on a part-time basis. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with previous school caretaking or maintenance experience who takes pride in maintaining a safe, clean, and well-presented learning environment.

Working closely with the Site Manager, you will be responsible for helping to ensure the school premises are safe, secure, and ready for pupils, staff, and visitors each morning.

Key Responsibilities
  • Open and prepare the school site each morning
  • Carry out routine maintenance, repairs, and basic DIY tasks
  • Complete daily health and safety checks across the premises
  • Ensure classrooms, corridors, playgrounds, and outdoor areas are safe and well-maintained
  • Respond promptly to maintenance requests where required
  • Report any maintenance issues or site hazards to the Site Manager
  • Support with room set-ups for school activities and events
  • Monitor site security and follow school safeguarding procedures
  • Maintain high standards of cleanliness, safety, and presentation across the school
What We're Looking For
  • Essential: Previous experience working as a School Caretaker or School Maintenance Assistant
  • Good practical DIY and maintenance skills
  • Knowledge of health and safety procedures
  • Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently
  • Strong communication and organisational skills
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one)
  • Right to Work in the UK
  • Desirable: Experience working within a primary, secondary, or SEN school
  • Knowledge of COSHH and premises compliance
  • Basic plumbing, decorating, or electrical maintenance experience
  • First Aid qualification
