About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and enthusiastic Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join our friendly and inclusive mainstream primary school in Harrow from September 2026.

This is a full-time role where you will play a key part in supporting teaching and learning across the school.

You will be responsible for covering classes across EYFS, KS1 and KS2, delivering pre-planned lessons, leading targeted interventions, and supporting pupils to achieve their full potential.

The role also involves working closely with pupils with Special Educational Needs (SEN), providing tailored support to help them access learning and make progress.

Working alongside class teachers and senior leaders, you will help maintain high standards of teaching, learning and behaviour while contributing to a positive and inclusive school environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver pre-planned lessons and provide whole-class cover when required.
  • Cover classes across EYFS, KS1 and KS2.
  • Lead interventions for individuals and small groups to support pupil progress.
  • Provide effective support for pupils with Special Educational Needs (SEN).
  • Assist with planning, preparation and assessment of learning activities.
  • Promote positive behaviour and manage the classroom in line with school policies.
  • Monitor pupil progress and provide feedback to teachers.
  • Support the delivery of an engaging, inclusive and stimulating curriculum.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, support staff and parents to ensure the best outcomes for pupils.
  • Maintain a safe, nurturing and inclusive learning environment.
  • The Ideal Candidate Will Have
  • HLTA status or significant experience in a Higher Level Teaching Assistant role.
  • Experience covering classes independently across the primary age range.
  • Experience supporting pupils with Special Educational Needs (SEN).
  • Strong classroom and behaviour management skills.
  • Confidence delivering engaging lessons and adapting learning to meet pupils' needs.
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills.
  • A flexible, proactive and professional approach.
  • An Enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service (or be willing to obtain one).
