We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated Sports Coach / SEN Teaching Assistant to join a supportive SEN school in Croydon. This dual role combines sports coaching with classroom-based SEN support, using physical activity to promote engagement, positive behaviour, teamwork, and emotional wellbeing.
Key Responsibilities
- Sports Coaching
- Lead and organise structured sports and physical activities to develop teamwork, cooperation, and leadership
- Deliver inclusive sports programmes suitable for pupils with a range of SEN
- Use physical activity to support behaviour regulation, confidence, and social skills
- Ensure pupil safety and wellbeing during all physical activities
- Support teachers with classroom management and pupil engagement
- Provide targeted support to pupils, particularly those with Autism (ASC), SEMH, or learning difficulties
- Integrate physical activity into learning to support focus and participation
- Deliver 1:1 and small-group support as required
- Promote mental wellbeing, resilience, and healthy lifestyles
- Support pupils with social, emotional, and behavioural needs
- Work closely with pastoral and SEN teams to meet individual needs
- Work collaboratively with staff to support school events and enrichment activities
- Maintain basic records of pupil progress and engagement
- Communicate effectively with pupils, parents/carers, and colleagues
What Weβre Looking For
- Experience in sports coaching, ideally within an educational or SEN setting
- Ability to use sport as a tool to teach life skills and positive behaviour
- Experience supporting pupils with SEN (Autism experience highly desirable)
- Relevant coaching qualifications preferred
- Calm, patient, and confident behaviour management skills
