Estates Manager Location: West London Start Date: ASAP Contract: Full-Time, Long-Term Working Hours: 36 hours per week A well-established education organisation is looking for an experienced and proactive Estates Manager to oversee the maintenance, development, and day-to-day operation of its school sites. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with strong estates, facilities, or premises management experience who is confident leading site teams, managing contractors, overseeing compliance, and ensuring schools provide safe, well-maintained and effective environments for pupils and staff. About the Role * Provide strategic leadership and oversight of the school estates. * Manage and support site, facilities, and caretaking teams. * Oversee the maintenance and development of school buildings, grounds, and facilities. * Manage and quality-assure external contractors, including cleaning, catering, grounds maintenance, facilities management, and health and safety services. * Project manage premises-related works and maintenance projects. * Work closely with senior leadership to identify estates priorities and development requirements. * Oversee premises budgets and ensure resources are used effectively. * Support lettings and other opportunities to generate additional revenue. * Lead on health and safety matters relating to the estate. * Ensure compliance with relevant regulations, including fire safety, legionella, PAT testing, and other statutory requirements. * Ensure robust fire, evacuation, emergency, and disaster recovery procedures are in place and regularly tested. * Establish effective systems for logging, prioritising, and tracking maintenance and facilities requests. * Provide practical, hands-on support when required, including minor repairs, equipment set-up, and responding to urgent maintenance issues. * Visit different sites regularly to monitor standards and support operational needs. About You * Experience working in estates, facilities, premises, or property management. * Experience managing site, caretaking, or facilities teams. * Strong knowledge of health and safety and premises compliance. * Experience managing external contractors and service providers. * Strong organisational and project management skills. * Able to manage budgets and prioritise competing estates requirements. * Practical, proactive, and solutions-focused approach. * Strong communication and relationship-building skills. * Confident working with senior leaders, staff, contractors, and external partners. * Able to work across multiple sites and respond effectively to urgent operational issues. * Experience within an educational or similar environment would be advantageous. * Must hold a valid Enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service.
