We are currently seeking a Year 1 General Teaching Assistant to join an outstanding two-form entry primary school in Edgware after the Easter break. This is a full-time, term-time only position working Monday to Friday, 8:30 am – 3:30 pm. This is a fantastic opportunity to work within a supportive and well‑established KS1 team in a school known for its strong leadership, inclusive environment and high standards of teaching and learning.
Pay: £105 – £115 per day (dependent on experience)
Key Responsibilities
- Supporting the class teacher in delivering engaging lessons within the Year 1 classroom
- Providing general classroom support to ensure all pupils remain engaged and on task
- Working with small groups and individual pupils to support learning in phonics, literacy and numeracy
- Assisting with classroom organisation, preparation of learning resources and displays
- Supporting pupils with varying learning needs to access the curriculum
- Promoting positive behaviour and helping to maintain a safe and inclusive learning environment
- Supporting pupils during transitions, break times and classroom activities where required
Requirements
- Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one)
- Previous experience working in a primary school setting, ideally within Key Stage 1
- A Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification is desirable but not essential
- Strong communication skills and a proactive, supportive approach
- A genuine passion for supporting children's learning and development
