We are seeking an enthusiastic and committed SEMH Teacher to join a welcoming specialist school in Dorking from September 2026. This is an excellent opportunity to work within a supportive environment, helping students with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs achieve their full potential.

The Role

  • Plan and deliver engaging, differentiated lessons that meet the individual needs of pupils.
  • Build positive and trusting relationships with students who may display challenging behaviours.
  • Create a safe, nurturing and inclusive learning environment.
  • Work collaboratively with support staff, therapists and senior leaders to promote positive outcomes.
  • Monitor and assess pupil progress, adapting teaching strategies where required.
  • Contribute to the wider school community and support students' personal development.

The Ideal Candidate

  • Holds Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification.
  • Has experience teaching pupils with SEMH, SEND or challenging behaviour (desirable but not essential).
  • Demonstrates excellent behaviour management skills.
  • Is patient, adaptable and passionate about inclusive education.
  • Can build positive relationships with pupils, families and colleagues.
  • Is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
