We are currently recruiting a Primary Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming 2-form entry Catholic primary school in Whetstone, Barnet. This is a term-time only opportunity starting ASAP, perfect for someone with previous school-based experience who is passionate about supporting children's learning. The school is Ofsted rated “Good” and offers a supportive leadership team, strong behaviour policies, and a positive, community-focused environment.

Role Details

  • Location: Whetstone, Barnet
  • Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30am - 3:30pm term time only
  • Pay: £13 - £17 per hour (depending on experience)
  • Start Date: ASAP
  • Contract: School term time only

Key Responsibilities

  • Supporting pupils across the classroom, including 1:1 and small group work
  • Assisting the class teacher with lesson delivery and preparation
  • Supporting children with SEND, literacy, numeracy, and phonics
  • Helping to create a safe, engaging, and inclusive learning environment
  • Managing behaviour in line with the school's policies
  • Supporting pupils' emotional, social, and academic development
  • Assisting during transitions, break times, and school activities when required

Requirements

  • Previous school-based experience (UK primary school experience preferred)
  • An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to obtain one
  • A patient, caring, and proactive approach
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work as part of a team
