A specialist SEN and alternative provision in West Norwood is seeking a committed and experienced English Teacher to join their team from January. The setting supports secondary aged pupils who benefit from smaller class sizes, structured routines and a highly supportive learning environment. Pupils may present with SEMH and additional needs and have often experienced barriers in mainstream education. The school focuses on personalised learning, relationship building and re‑engagement with education.

The successful candidate will deliver engaging and accessible English lessons, supporting pupils to develop literacy, communication skills and confidence. LSAs are present in the classroom to support behaviour and learning.

Key Responsibilities

• Planning and delivering English lessons across secondary age ranges
• Differentiating lessons to meet individual learning and behavioural needs
• Supporting pupils with SEMH needs in a calm, consistent and structured way
• Working collaboratively with LSAs and the wider staff team
• Monitoring progress and contributing to pupil targets and outcomes
• Creating a safe, inclusive and engaging classroom environment

Requirements

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
• Experience teaching English at secondary levelStrong behaviour management skills
• Experience working in SEN, SEMH or alternative provision is desirable

Pay

• Paid to Inner London MPS or UPS depending on experience
