A specialist SEN setting in SM3 is seeking an experienced Teaching Assistant with BSL Level 6 to support pupils with hearing impairments and additional needs. This is a full-time role with an immediate start, ideal for someone confident in delivering high-level communication support within an educational setting.
The Role
- Provide 1:1 and small group support for pupils with hearing impairments
- Use British Sign Language (BSL Level 6) to facilitate communication and learning
- Support access to the curriculum through adapted resources and strategies
- Work closely with teachers, SENCOs, and specialist services (e.g. HI teams)
- Promote inclusion, independence, and confidence in communication
- Support social interaction and emotional development
- Contribute to a safe, supportive, and inclusive classroom environment
Requirements
- BSL Level 6 qualification (essential)
- Previous experience working with deaf or hearing-impaired pupils
- Strong understanding of communication needs and inclusive practice
- Confident working 1:1 and within classroom settings
- Must hold a Child DBS on the Update Service (Adult DBS desirable)
- Full-time availability (Monday - Friday)

- Experience in specialist SEN schools or resource bases
