The Role
As a 1:1 Teaching Assistant, you will play a central role in supporting a named pupil’s learning, development, and wellbeing throughout the school day. Responsibilities include:
- Providing focused one-to-one support to help a pupil access the curriculum and achieve individual learning goals
- Assisting with the delivery of differentiated and targeted learning activities, including literacy and numeracy support
- Supporting communication and engagement using appropriate strategies and resources
- Encouraging positive behaviour, emotional regulation, confidence, and social skills
- Helping with break/lunch supervision, transitions between activities, and routine support
- Supporting the pupil during whole-class sessions, small group work, and independent tasks
- Recording observations and contributing to planning discussions with teachers, SENCO, and parents
- Assisting with personal care and sensory regulation if required, always with professionalism and respect
- Working closely with the wider school team to promote inclusion, wellbeing, and academic progress
About You
- Experience working in a nursery or school setting in the UK
- Relevant qualification such as CACHE Level 3 Nursery Nurse or equivalent in education/childcare/SEN support
- Enthusiastic, energetic, and committed to supporting pupil progress
- Strong communication, teamwork, and organisation skills
- Confident working 1:1 with learners and adaptable to individual needs
- Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply via Uniform Education)
