To provide North London field‑based service and support to our clients. The successful candidate will be expected to work on initiative, but will be part of a service team. The job involves servicing and supporting audio‑visual, video conferencing, pro‑audio, and control equipment. Responsibilities include safe and correct diagnosis of faults, removal, repair, test, implementation, and operation of all aspects of audio‑visual, video conference, display, and presentation technologies. Carrying out preventative maintenance visits and training end users at PM visits.

This role requires a technical understanding of AV systems and service within a corporate environment and is open to candidates based in North London, ideally within the M25. The Audio‑Visual Service Engineer will work from home and receive a monthly car allowance of £350. Whilst the salary budget is set at a maximum of £45K, there is flexibility based on experience.

Key Responsibilities

  • Post‑implementation fault finding, testing, and repair of audio‑visual equipment across various job sites and client types.
  • On‑site work 80%; remote 20%.
  • Configure, perform diagnostics, and firmware updates of videoconferencing codecs and AV hardware.
  • Carry out preventative maintenance visits and produce post‑job and PM reports.
  • Provide phone/email technical support.
  • Communicate with customers and site contacts, adhering to site rules, procedures, and H&S.
  • Handle ad‑hoc on‑site tech cover, annual leave, sickness.
  • Adhere to health and safety legislation.
  • Maintain site cleanliness and proper dress.

Core Knowledge & Skills

  • Audio (Program and Speech, DSP‑based systems) – QSC, Biamp, Shure, Poly
  • Projection and display devices maintenance
  • Custom control systems – AMX, Crestron, Extron, SY
  • Audio and video conferencing – Cisco, Lifesize, Polycom, Zoom, Microsoft Teams
  • Microsoft Hub
  • Digital signage – Scala, OneLAN, Brightsign
  • Video wall display – Datapath, Dexon
  • IPTV – Exterity, Tripleplay
  • Live event work – VC, presentation, broadcast
  • Network knowledge – Dante/AES67, QoS/PTP/IGMP

Essential Qualifications

  • 4+ years of audio‑visual experience – installation, onsite, tech support
  • Ability to terminate cables (Cat5/6, RS232, Audio TRS)
  • Knowledge of audio room acoustic optimisation
  • Effective communication at all levels, client‑facing
  • Good numeracy and written skills
  • Well organised, able to prioritise workload while dealing with clients proactively
  • Quick response to service desk tickets
  • Ability to work individually and as part of a team
  • Good time‑keeping and appropriate dress for job
  • Fully compliant with Health and Safety at Work Act 1974
  • Valid driving licence and current passport holder
  • AVIXA CTS certification
