This role is open to remote working within the UK. Successful candidates will be required to travel to their closest UNiDAYS campus (London or Nottingham) on occasion.
We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Engineering Manager to join our growing ID&V team. You will play a vital role in leading, mentoring, and driving the technical direction of our team while remaining deeply involved in the product life cycle.
Day to day responsibilities:
- Define and implement the architecture for our ID&V platform, ensuring scalability, security, and performance.
- Foster a collaborative and inclusive environment where your team can thrive and innovate.
- Provide mentorship and coaching, helping team members grow their technical and leadership capabilities.
- Champion clear communication between engineering and other teams (product, design, security) to deliver exceptional user experiences.
- Actively participate in the product development process, translating user needs into effective technical solutions.
- Lead in the education of the wider business on how we identify and verify our users; represent the needs of the platform in terms of data quality and robustness of our ID&V processes.
- Participate in code reviews, ensuring high code quality and adherence to best practices.
- Be prepared to contribute technically when needed, while maintaining a focus on leadership and delegation.
- Stay up-to-date on the latest trends and technologies in the ID&V space, continuously seeking opportunities to improve our solutions.
What we need from you:
- Minimum 7+ years of experience in software engineering, with a strong background in building secure and scalable applications.
- 3+ years of management experience of leading and motivating high-performing engineering teams.
- Demonstrated ability to set technical direction and translate business goals into actionable plans.
- Excellent communication, collaboration appetite, and problem-solving skills.
- Passion for building products that solve real-world problems and enhance user experience.
- Experience in the ID&V space is desirable, but not mandatory.
- Strong coding skills and a desire to stay technically engaged.
Bonus Points:
- Experience with relevant ID&V technologies.
- Experience building and scaling distributed systems.
- Experience in a cloud-native environment (AWS).
