London Full-Time No working from home possible
UNiDAYS
Description
UNiDAYS is looking for a hands-on, systems-orientated Legal Tech & Privacy Automation Engineer to join us on a 12-month fixed-term contract. This is a highly technical, transformation-focussed role. You will act as the principal architect and builder of the automated pipelines that power our global privacy compliance and legal workflows.
Rather than managing static compliance databases or configuring heavy, legacy enterprise software modules, you will be tackling two primary engineering initiatives. First, you will build an LLM-driven automated engine from scratch to automate our core assessment processes—specifically Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIAs), Legitimate Interest Assessments (LIAs), and Vendor Privacy/Security Questionnaires—utilising our specialised internal legal LLM and legal-provided playbooks. Second, you will design and implement our dynamic, system-enabled data mapping architecture.
You will design a user-friendly, searchable "home" for this engine that serves two distinct audiences: business/product teams needing instant, self-serve compliance approvals, and the privacy team needing a robust, searchable audit ledger. To ensure these tools are built to last and align with our core tech stack, you will be fully embedded in our IT and Engineering Agile ceremonies (daily stand-ups, sprint planning), partnering directly with our Systems and Software Engineers.

Requirements
Core Competencies
  • System Integration & Scripting: High capability in connecting disparate systems and automating workflows.
  • Process Optimisation: Expert at translating business rules into logical schemas, algorithms, and technical requirements.
  • Agile Engineering Frameworks: Fluent in software development lifecycles, version control, and data engineering fundamentals.
What We Need From You
  • Technical Background: 3+ years of experience in Legal Technology, Privacy Engineering, Systems Analysis, Data Engineering, or DevOps/Automation Engineering.
  • Automation & Scripting Skills: Hands-on experience with modern integration platforms (e.g., Zapier, Workato, Make), workflow builders, API configurations, or writing utility scripts (Python, SQL, JavaScript) to manipulate data and connect systems.
  • Systems Architecture Mindset: A strong understanding of how database structures, metadata schemas, cloud environments, and API endpoints interact.
  • Agile Fluency: Prior experience working in an Agile/Scrum environment, participating in sprints, stand-ups, and utilising Jira/GitHub.
  • Pragmatic Problem Solver: Ability to interpret legal rules (e.g., GDPR, CCPA, AI regulatory principles) and convert them into clean "if-this-then-that" programme logic. You do not need to be a lawyer—the legal criteria will be defined for you.
  • Low-Ego Collaboration: Eager to learn from systems engineers while keeping a razor-sharp focus on delivering the project's requirements on schedule.
Highly Desirable (Nice-to-Haves)
  • Familiarity with LLM APIs, prompt engineering, and utilising generative AI to build automated agents.
  • Direct experience with data inventory systems or privacy management systems.
  • Certifications in Data Privacy (CIPP/E, CIPM, CDPSE).
