The role in a nutshell
The Category Leader – Tech is responsible for the performance of the Tech, Entertainment and Banking category globally. The Category Leader is accountable for successfully executing the category strategy, meeting revenue targets and managing a team of 7 partnership managers, in line with the Retail Marketplace full year and 3 year strategy.
Day to day responsibilities
Category Ownership
- Owns the Tech, Entertainment and Banking Strategy and execution globally.
- Set the strategy and outcomes for Tech, Entertainment and Banking partnerships; managing the team across elements such as strategy, account plans, media planning/ performance reviews and relationship management.
- Executes on Tech, Entertainment and Banking plans in line with Retail Marketplace strategy and corporate vision, to create long-term value for members and partners, as well as achieve revenue targets.
- Works with peers (other category leaders and department leaders), Commercial Director and the Chief Strategy Officer to lead and contribute to company OKRs.
- Own P&L responsibility for the team including business cases for resourcing, marketing and partner engagement.
- Constantly appraise partner tiering and composition, prioritising strategic growth.
- Internal Communication – Commercial consistency, knowledge sharing through working sessions, commercial meeting updates.
- External Communication – Authoring content, speaking at relevant events, being the UNiDAYS ambassador for Tech, Entertainment and Banking.
Capability management & KPI responsibility
- Responsibility for Tech, Entertainment and Banking revenue, objectives and outcomes
- Directly lead a team of Account Directors/Managers ensuring strong performance management of all team members – ensuring revenue protection, optimisation and growth.
- Ensure deal fundamentals across all partners to drive business objectives – e.g. member acquisition, exclusivity, tracking and reporting, verification.
- Consistency on global partner contracts.
- Provide regular reporting to senior management covering category performance, priority account growth, revenue and objectives. Champion commercial challenges, driving innovations and solutions within the business
Strategic partner management
- Owns the global Tech, Entertainment and Banking partner strategy, working with the Commercial Director to ensure full business engagement with key partners, with the outcome being deeper relationships with priority partners, greater achievement against partnership fundamentals, successful execution against our partnerside distribution plan, and a team incentivised against long term partnership success
- Grow and develop the Tech, Entertainment and Banking team. Identify growth opportunities and bring on top talent.
What we need from you
- Specialist knowledge and proven leadership in the Tech or Entertainment vertical – interest & awareness of market trends, sector news & events
- Great understanding of the market dynamics and has established their credibility within the industry. Ability to digest market insights, interpret them and react accordingly.
- A proven track record of commercial leadership and people management
- A sound knowledge of the digital media landscape, specialising in the affiliate and media advertising sectors
- An informed leader with exceptional commercial acumen and experience in business development and partnerships across both Performance and Brand.
- A demonstrated ability to build excellent relationships that are credible, long-lasting, impactful, and influential.
- Experience selling to client direct, affiliate networks and media agencies within Tech, Entertainment and Banking
- Proven track record of achieving individual and team sales quotas
