About the Company
Warrington Road is a residential care home for disabled adults with complex care needs in Widnes, Cheshire.
About the Role
£12.71 per hour, 40 hours per week. Shift times are a mixture of 7am‑3pm and 2:30pm‑10:30pm. The rota includes alternate weekends and alternates a pattern of six shifts one week then four the next, covering weekends and bank holidays.
Responsibilities
- Complete in‑depth induction training and all mandatory training, including safeguarding modules and the Wales induction framework.
- Follow Salutem policies and procedures, including those concerning health and safety.
- Provide support to individual young people with complex health, physical and learning needs within the children’s home.
- Attend to day‑to‑day needs of the young people and support them to access and participate in activities, including evenings and weekends.
- Register with Social Care Wales.
- Provide high‑quality personal care and promote opportunities for independence.
- Encourage young people to socialize, be included and help them reach personal outcomes.
- Understand each young person’s communication needs.
- Create a safe and stimulating environment.
- Promote health and well‑being of young people.
- Attend and actively participate in handover meetings, key‑worker meetings and liaise with colleagues and management.
- Complete key‑worker activities and responsibilities with individual key young people, including those on short breaks.
- Collaborate with external agencies and professionals such as social workers, families and health care professionals.
- Keep accurate records and report on the young people you work with, providing effective communication between the home, school and outside agencies.
- Maintain effective contact with parents and guardians, ensuring appropriate information is passed on efficiently.
- Be reliable and flexible, using initiative when making decisions.
- Attend all relevant training provided by the organisation to ensure safe practice.
- Maintain a high standard of tidiness within the home.
- Perform sleeping‑in duties.
- Report to management and perform duties requested by a senior member of staff, including additional duties commensurate with the post.
