Product Safety Engineer Location: Cambridge Salary: £40,000–£45,000 37.5 hours per week Monday–Friday A great opportunity has arisen for a Product Safety Engineer to join a busy and collaborative Engineering function based in Cambridge. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working with technical standards, product approvals and cross‑functional teams, and who wants to contribute to the development of high‑quality engineered products used across global markets. Role Overview You will take the lead on all product safety approval activities across the business. This includes maintaining a global product certification database, managing new and existing approvals, and ensuring all products meet relevant international standards. You will act as a key technical contact for internal teams and customers, supporting both new product development and ongoing compliance requirements. Key Responsibilities * Maintain and update the global product certification database * Manage new product certifications and associated documentation * Keep up to date with relevant industry and international standards * Liaise with production, sales, finance and marketing teams to support approval activities * Support sales teams with customer enquiries relating to product approvals and certifications * Maintain and improve the Product Safety Business Procedure * Provide technical input into new product development * Share third‑party approval knowledge with the wider Engineering team * Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within the department Qualifications & Experience Essential: * Degree in a relevant engineering discipline * Experience working with technical standards (ISO, IEC, etc.) * Strong IT skills, including Microsoft Office and ERP systems * Ability to clearly communicate technical information * Strong written and verbal communication skills Desirable: * Experience in electrical and/or mechanical testing * Familiarity with industry standards such as IP & IK ratings, ATEX, etc. * Membership of a relevant Engineering Institution * Willingness to travel occasionally Person Specification You will be a proactive, detail‑focused individual with strong problem‑solving skills.
