Role Overview
The Business Development Manager will drive revenue growth and expand market share for their portfolio across the South of England. This includes identifying new opportunities, acquiring new customers, and developing strategic relationships within secondary and community healthcare settings.
Key Responsibilities:
- Identify and deliver new growth opportunities with support from the Business Unit Manager and Clinical Specialist Team.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with NHS senior leadership and commissioning groups.
- Communicate commercial value and clinical outcomes to support product adoption.
- Develop and execute key account strategies across the region.
- Manage commissioning relationships and Trust-wide account plans.
- Maintain a comprehensive stakeholder map and monitor customer performance.
- Support national meetings, conferences, and wider business initiatives.
Essential Qualifications & Experience:
- Clinical qualification (RGN or Pharmacist).
- Minimum 5 years’ consultative sales experience in pharmaceuticals and/or medical devices not purely Pharma.
- Proven track record in secondary care and wider healthcare networks.
- Strong commercial acumen and key account management experience.
- Experience engaging with senior NHS stakeholders and commissioning groups.
Desirable:
- Experience developing community-based patient pathways.
Skills & Competencies:
- Strong communication, negotiation, and influencing skills.
- Consultative sales approach with excellent business acumen.
- Innovative, entrepreneurial mindset.
- Strong planning, analytical, and problem-solving ability.
- Understanding of UK healthcare systems, funding, and commissioning.
- Proficiency with CRM platforms and Microsoft Office.
- Willingness to travel extensively (approx. 15,000–20,000 miles per year).
Working Conditions:
- Home/remote-based with extensive travel across the South of England (ideally Birmingham and below).
- Regular clinical site visits and attendance at conferences.
- Flexibility for occasional extended hours, evenings, and weekends.
- Valid driving licence and access to a reliable vehicle required.
