A well established specialist engineering business operating within the healthcare sector is recruiting a Field Service Engineer. The company installs, services, calibrates and validates medical washer disinfectors within hospitals and clinical environments. Engineers are trained to work on Class 1 medical devices and supported with structured internal and external training programmes. These are long term career roles with full technical training provided. Due to site locations, occasional overnight stays will be required.

The Role

  • Service, repair and modification of medical reprocessing equipment
  • Calibration, validation and periodic testing
  • Electrical fault finding and mechanical maintenance
  • Creation of on site validation and laboratory reports
  • Implementation of company quality procedures
  • Ownership of site based technical issues
  • Training and support for end users
  • Coaching and first line support for new engineers
  • Servicing of selected third party products within the portfolio

This is a field based, customer facing engineering role requiring professionalism, accuracy and strong documentation discipline.

What We Are Looking For

  • Minimum Level 3 qualification in Electrical or Mechanical discipline, ideally both
  • Time served apprenticeship highly desirable
  • Strong electrical fault finding ability
  • Mechanical aptitude, including small pumps and seals
  • Logical problem solving skills
  • Full UK driving licence

Engineers from outside the medical device industry are encouraged to apply. Successful candidates will receive comprehensive training and mentoring. Ex military engineers are particularly well suited to this environment.

Package

  • Starting salary £37,500 - £42,000 DOE for the right candidate
  • Overtime paid at enhanced rates
  • Saturday paid at time and a half
  • Sunday paid at double time
  • Overtime above 45 hours paid at enhanced rates

  • 25 days holiday plus bank holidays
  • No on call requirement
