In Papua New Guinea, UNICEF’s works effectively both ‘upstream’ (with governments) and ‘downstream’ (at the grassroots level) to carry out its mission through a programme of cooperation jointly developed with the government that guides our work in the country.

The Programme Associate provides specialized programme and administrative support to facilitate the development, implementation and monitoring of UNICEF's Education programmes. The role involves substantial engagement in budget tracking, reporting, and coordination with internal and external stakeholders to ensure effective delivery and compliance with organizational rules. Incumbent exercises judgment, anticipates needs, and recommends actions that contribute to programme planning, implementation and reporting results.

Minimum requirements:

  • Education: Completion of secondary education is required. Professional and/or university courses related to the field of work are highly desirable.
  • Work Experience: A minimum of 4 years of relevant experience is required for candidates holding a bachelor’s degree, and 2 years for candidates holding a master’s degree. At least 6 years of relevant work experience in administrative or clerical work experience is required.
  • Language Requirements: Fluency in English is required. Knowledge of another official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian or Spanish) and local language is considered an asset.

Desirables:

  • Relevant experience at country level, particularly in development, fragile settings and humanitarian contexts.
