Across Sussex, we help people living with mental health needs to stay well, grow in confidence and lead full, independent lives in their own homes and communities. We are looking for warm, resilient Mental Health Support Workers to join our Sussex community team. You'll build genuine, trusting relationships with the people we support and provide the person-centred care that helps them on their recovery journey every single day.
Where you'll be working: Community-based across Sussex, supporting people in and around key areas such as Brighton & Hove, Worthing, Crawley, Eastbourne.
Your shifts: Our community service runs across a range of shifts, and patterns vary from week to week. We'll always work with you around your availability.
- Morning shift: Daytime cover from early morning (e.g. 7:00am-2:00pm)
- Afternoon shift: Daytime into early evening (e.g. 2:00pm-8:00pm)
- Evening shift: Evening support (e.g. 8:00pm-10:00pm; waking nights where required)
- Weekend shifts: Saturdays & Sundays daytime and evening cover
Full-time, part-time and bank hours available.
What you'll be doing:
- Building trusting, professional relationships with the people we support
- Delivering person-centred support that promotes recovery, wellbeing and independence
- Supporting with daily living, medication prompts, appointments and accessing the community
- Encouraging social inclusion, meaningful activity and confidence
- Recognising changes in mental health and responding in line with support and risk-management plans
- Working alongside families, clinicians and the wider team, and keeping accurate, professional records
What we're looking for:
- A compassionate, patient and resilient approach, with strong communication skills
- An interest in or experience of supporting people with mental health needs (experience welcome but not essential; full training is provided)
- Flexibility to work across varied shift patterns, including evenings and weekends
- The right to work in the UK
- Willingness to undergo an enhanced DBS check (we arrange and support this)
- Ability to travel reliably across Sussex (a driving licence and access to a vehicle is an advantage)
