As a key player in the heart of URW’s UK finance operations, you will lead the charge on statutory reporting and compliance for a number of statutory entities, while contributing to other broader corporate initiatives. If you are ready to make a meaningful impact, partner with cross-functional teams, and be part of a forward-thinking organisation, we would love to hear from you.

Key objectives

Your mission will be to ensure robust statutory reporting and accounting compliance across URW’s UK and Jersey entities. This role is pivotal in maintaining financial integrity, supporting strategic decision-making, and driving continuous improvement across core processes.

What you will be doing…

  • Prepare comprehensive audit packs by reviewing system-generated trial balances, preparing the P&L and balance sheet, validating opening balances, and reconciling all movements and year-end balances to supporting schedules and reconciliations.
  • Ensure all items are fully supported with audit evidence and that documentation is complete and ready for auditors.
  • Production of statutory accounts for all UK entities, using our accounts production software, ensuring compliance with FRS 102, FRS 101 or IFRS as applicable, including liaising with corporate accountants, tax, legal and company secretarial departments, liaising with external auditors, ensuring all accounts are filed within the required timescales, statutory or otherwise, responsible for producing coordinated statutory accounts and tax filing, and compliance timetable.
  • Prepare consolidated statutory accounts for subgroups as required, ensuring the completeness and accuracy of consolidated statements and all related disclosures in the financial statements.
  • Lead the audit of statutory entities from end to end, overseeing the full audit cycle, including attending regular audit catch-ups, responding promptly to audit queries, acting as the primary point of contact for auditors, and liaising with corporate accountants to obtain and provide required audit support.
  • Prepare iXBRL-compliant financial statements for submission to Companies House using the company’s accounts production software, ensuring accuracy and adherence to all statutory filing requirements.
  • Post all statutory and audit adjustments in the accounting system following audit finalisation, ensuring that system records are fully aligned with the statutory financial statements and kept up to date.
  • Technical assistance in relation to new accounting standards.
  • Assistance with Corporate Finance projects, including restructuring, liquidations and formation of REITs.
  • Accounts production system management and maintenance.
  • Treasury assistance: all associated System Admin tasks (adding/deleting/amending of users/profiles/bank accounts); assisting users with access issues and set-up; assisting the Cashier with bank issues, etc.
  • Build and maintain proficiency in the organisation’s ERP system (SAP S/4HANA), supporting module learning, system updates, and accurate financial reporting.
  • Work with the Financial Reporting Manager to assist in creating purchase orders in SAP for the financial reporting area of the purchasing group.
  • Other ad hoc projects relating to UK Group entities.

What skills, experience, and knowledge will you need to be successful?

  • Qualified Chartered Accountant from a leading professional accounting firm, with strong technical knowledge of IFRS, FRS 101, and FRS 102.
  • Working knowledge of Companies Act 2006 requirements, including audit thresholds, small-companies exemptions, and related statutory reporting obligations.
  • Knowledge of accounting for non-standard entities, including Limited Partnerships, General Partners, Jersey Unit Trusts and UK REITs.
  • Multi-entity consolidation experience is preferable.
  • Experience in preparing statutory accounts using accounting software (OneSource is a strong advantage).
  • Experience of working alongside the audit team and other members of the finance team, as well as the company secretarial team.
  • Exposure to Group/Corporate restructuring is an advantage.
  • To have worked in a similar fast-paced, challenging environment.
  • Strong financial, analytical and system skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
