With a strong pipeline of new residential projects launching this year, an established and well-respected housebuilder is looking to appoint two experienced Quantity Surveyors to join their commercial team. This is an excellent opportunity to work on large scale residential developments, taking ownership of the financial management of projects from pre-construction through to completion, and supporting post-completion defect costs in liaison with customer care teams.
You will play a key role in managing the commercial performance of multiple projects, working collaboratively with internal teams and external stakeholders. Responsibilities will include:
- Managing the financial aspects of residential construction projects through pre-construction and delivery
- Reviewing and checking contract documentation
- Procuring and appointing subcontractors
- Preparing, analysing and controlling costs including subcontract packages, variations, materials and preliminaries
- Producing and maintaining Cost to Complete and CVR reports, identifying risks and overspends
- Supporting post-completion defects and associated costs alongside customer care teams
- Working closely with construction, technical and commercial colleagues to ensure projects are delivered efficiently and profitably
You will be an experienced Quantity Surveyor with a background in large residential developments, confident managing the commercial elements of projects in a fast-paced environment.
- HNC or equivalent in Surveying or Construction
- BSc in Quantity Surveying desirable
- Strong project and commercial management skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication
- Sound judgement with strong analytical ability
- High attention to detail and a proactive, problem-solving mindset
- Ability to work under pressure and manage competing priorities
- In-depth knowledge of the residential build process, legislation and regulations
- Experience using construction database systems and Microsoft Office
