Due to continued growth, we are now seeking an enthusiastic and driven Assistant Estimator to join their commercial team. Assistant Estimator Criteria
- Minimum 2 years experience in an estimating or quantity surveying role within groundworks, RC frame, or civil engineering.
- A good understanding of construction drawings, specifications, and measurement principles.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook) and basic familiarity with estimating software.
- Strong numerical and analytical skills with attention to detail.
- Good communication and organisation skills.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a wider pre‑construction team.
- A positive attitude and eagerness to learn from senior estimators and progress within the business.
Assistant Estimator Duties
- Assist senior estimators in reviewing and analysing tender documentation to understand scope and requirements.
- Support in the take‑off and measurement of quantities from drawings and specifications.
- Help in preparing cost estimates and bills of quantities under the guidance of senior team members.
- Liaise with suppliers and subcontractors to obtain quotations and clarify scope of works.
- Assist in the evaluation and comparison of supplier/subcontractor quotations.
- Maintain accurate records of tender documents, correspondence, and cost data.
- Contribute to the identification of risks and value engineering opportunities.
- Help prepare tender submission documents, ensuring accuracy and compliance with client requirements.
- Attend internal tender review meetings and provide administrative and analytical support.
- Participate in post‑tender reviews to capture lessons learned and improve future submissions.
