Our client is a prominent, award-winning UK consultancy delivering a comprehensive range of engineering and technical services. With a proven track record in major regeneration and strategic development, they provide integrated expertise across structural design, infrastructure planning, and environmental land assessment. Their hands-on approach and extensive sector experience—spanning residential, commercial, healthcare, and rail—ensure robust, high-quality support throughout the entire project lifecycle.
They are seeking a Senior or Principal Structural Engineer to work within their experienced and supportive team in Derby.
Responsibilities- Deliver structural engineering design for projects ranging from multi-storey buildings to small housing schemes, across sectors including education, health, industrial, commercial, residential, and regeneration.
- Produce designs using steel, timber, masonry and reinforced concrete, supported by both hand calculations and industry-standard modelling tools (e.g., TEKLA, TEDDS, CSC Portal Frame Designer).
- Work on schemes valued between £250k and £30M, many of which are developed to BIM Level 2 standards.
- Collaborate closely with internal teams, external consultants, contractors and clients across the East Midlands and UK.
- Demonstrate strong communication skills—written, verbal and client-facing—ensuring high standards of service delivery.
- Support and mentor junior team members, contributing to the overall development and efficiency of the design team.
- Assist in preparing design reports, technical documentation and coordinating project deliverables from concept through to completion.
- Degree-qualified (BEng/MEng) in Civil or Structural Engineering, with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Proven track record as either a Senior or Principal Structural Engineer within a consultancy environment.
- Working toward or already holding professional chartership (ICE or IStructE), with support available for completion.
- Competent in structural design across major construction materials: steel, timber, masonry and reinforced concrete.
- Sound understanding of geotechnical considerations relevant to structural design.
- Proficient user of AutoCAD, and fully literate with Word, Excel and supporting design software.
- Strong teamwork ethic combined with the ability to work independently and manage tasks effectively.
- Confident communicator, capable of engaging with clients, stakeholders and multidisciplinary teams.
- Full UK Driving licence.
