We are working with a highly collaborative, fixed income hedge fund based in London. They are looking to hire an Execution Trader to join their lean but growing team. This is a front office engagement, working closely with key stakeholders to manage discretionary execution across liquid rates and macro products. This is an opportunity to play a central role in a fast-paced, nascent team.

This role will be working predominantly on trade executions, integrated with the PM team, and will also involve working on market research to further understand the landscape which will impact trading decisions. The candidate will provide feedback directly to the PMs.

The ideal hire will have experience across the whole trade lifecycle, preferably within the linear rates space. Another area of interest is being able to liaise with multiple areas of the business to ensure that trade operations can run successfully and efficiently, reducing discrepancies and ensuring accurate trade processing.

This is a role with excellent career progression opportunities due to the leaner structure of the fund and the fact that this is an on-desk position (not a centralised team).

In terms of characteristics, the fund hires high performing self-starters with the ability to be pragmatic in their approach to work. There is significant exposure to working with a range of stakeholders across the business and relevant counterparties externally, so strong communication skills are essential.

This is a great opportunity to join a growing fund with a flexible approach to career development. However, it is important to state that whilst moving into a risk-taking role in the future is not impossible, it is not expected as a natural progression from this role.

Day-to-day:

  • Execute trades across fixed income markets, supporting investment views and tactical positioning.
  • Monitor trading risk and respond to evolving market conditions and liquidity dynamics.
  • Work with investment teams to shape trade structures and explore idea implementation.
  • Engage with brokers and internal teams to support execution quality and information flow.
  • Assist with operational oversight and trade lifecycle management as needed.

Requirements:

  • 3+ years of trading/trade execution or other front office rates experience, including hedge fund sales. Preferably in a tier 1 bank or already on the buy side.
  • Strong understanding of financial markets and products within rates.
  • Familiarity with OMS/EMS platforms and trading systems.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with a range of internal and external stakeholders.
  • Excellent analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Minimum BSc ideally within a relevant STEM subject.
  • Strong commitment to integrity and professional ethics.

Due to demand, we are advertising this role anonymously. If you would prefer to speak to someone before submitting a CV, please send a blank application to the role and someone will be in touch to discuss. We can only respond to highly qualified candidates.
