A leading technology and digital transformation consultancy is seeking an experienced Engagement Director to lead and grow its Insurance Practice in the UK. This senior commercial role requires strong technical fluency and the ability to engage credibly with enterprise-level clients undergoing complex data and cloud transformation.
The consultancy partners with major insurance and financial services organisations to design, build and scale modern data, cloud and digital platforms. Their work enables clients to accelerate growth, strengthen resilience and meet evolving regulatory requirements.
The Engagement Director will own the strategy, development and commercial growth of the Insurance Practice. You will be responsible for client acquisition, account development and revenue expansion, while shaping how the organisation’s insurance offerings are positioned and taken to market.
Although this role centres on client leadership and commercial strategy, it is essential that you bring strong technical understanding—enough to engage confidently with CTOs, Chief Architects and senior engineering leaders, and to represent the consultancy’s technical capabilities with authority.
Operating as a trusted advisor at C-suite and senior technology levels, you will identify and shape transformation opportunities, translate complex technical challenges into compelling commercial propositions, and lead the full sales lifecycle from origination to deal closure.
You will also contribute meaningfully to early-stage solution design, RFP responses and client workshops, with the ability to:
- Challenge and validate proposed architectures and delivery approaches
- Articulate the value of modern data platforms, cloud-native services and integration patterns
- Engage confidently in discussions around scalability, resilience, security, governance and regulatory considerations in insurance environments
Across your portfolio, you will provide senior oversight to ensure delivery excellence and strong client outcomes, working closely with architects, engineering leads and delivery managers.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead client origination, relationship development and executive-level engagement
- Shape proposals, RFP responses and client presentations, including solution definition and delivery approaches
- Manage pricing, commercials and revenue performance
- Act as the senior client representative, addressing commercial, delivery and high-level technical matters
- Provide leadership across engagements, ensuring quality, technical integrity and client satisfaction
- Mentor future leaders and contribute to the organisation’s strategic planning and insurance practice growth
Skills & Experience Required
- 10+ years’ experience within a recognised technology consultancy
- Strong background working with major insurance clients
- Proven success in originating, selling and scaling consulting engagements in complex enterprise environments
- Solid understanding of modern data and cloud platforms, including architecture, integration, governance and security
- Experience partnering with architects and engineering teams to shape scalable, technically sound solutions
- Familiarity with ecosystems such as Databricks and/or Confluent
- Comfortable engaging at senior technology and C-suite level
Personal Attributes
- Executive-level communication and stakeholder management skills
- Able to bridge business, technology and delivery perspectives
- Confident operating within complex, regulated environments
- Experienced working across international and hybrid teams
Benefits
This role offers the opportunity to join a growing consultancy where senior leaders directly influence market strategy, client success and long-term commercial growth. The benefits package includes:
- Private health insurance
- Life insurance
- Company pension contribution
- Financial support for training and personal development
- EV and bike schemes (UK only)
- Share option scheme for eligible employees
- Relaxed dress code in London and Lisbon offices
