Job Summary: We are looking for a hands-on Application Support Engineer with strong experience in SQL, VBA, and Microsoft Access to support and maintain a range of business-critical applications. You will be responsible for troubleshooting, enhancing, and maintaining existing systems, as well as helping users make the most of these tools in their daily operations. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys problem-solving, interacting with end-users, and working in a dynamic, data-driven environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide day-to-day support for Microsoft Access databases and applications, including front-end and back-end components.
- Maintain and enhance VBA code, queries, and forms to support evolving business needs.
- Troubleshoot and resolve application issues, working closely with end-users and other IT team members.
- Write and optimize SQL queries, stored procedures, and scripts for data analysis and reporting.
- Assist in data migration, validation, and transformation between systems.
- Create and maintain documentation for processes, queries, and application changes.
- Support periodic data integrity checks, backups, and application performance monitoring.
- Participate in small-scale development or enhancement projects.
- Liaise with external vendors or teams as needed for upgrades or integrations.
- Good understanding of networking and server infrastructure.
Required Skills & Experience:
- Strong proficiency with Microsoft Access (2013 or later), including forms, reports, queries, and linked tables.
- Advanced VBA development skills, especially within Access applications.
- Solid knowledge of SQL (T-SQL preferred), including writing complex queries, joins, views, and stored procedures.
- Familiarity with relational database design and normalization.
- Experience troubleshooting and supporting legacy applications.
- Ability to translate business requirements into technical solutions.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with Excel VBA or integration between Access and Excel.
- Familiarity with Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio (SSMS).
- Exposure to other reporting tools (e.g., Spotfire, Power BI, SSRS) is a plus.
- Knowledge of scripting languages (e.g., PowerShell) is beneficial.
- Background in finance, operations, logistics, or manufacturing sectors.
