The IT Security Engineer is responsible for maintaining, implementing and improving the internal IT security systems. The IT Security Engineer will work with relevant stakeholders to ensure secure and compliant IT systems aligned with relevant standards, policies and procedures both internal and external.
Who are the team?
The IT team are responsible for the set-up, maintenance and security of our IT infrastructure, network, equipment and tools. The team provide a range of services internally from providing support to our employees globally with their Apple Macs, mobile devices and user accounts to managing Microsoft 365, Zscaler, JAMF, IDP, and security tooling such as Purview and Defender.
What will I be doing?
- Continuous improvement of the internal IT security systems covering but not limited to Microsoft 365, Defender, Purview, Email security, Apple Macs and third-party SaaS solutions.
- Run or assist in running vulnerability assessments to identify any weaknesses.
- Identify and plan implementations of new security tools to cover security requirements as necessary.
- Work closely with the parent organization (PLRe) to address and resolve IT security vulnerabilities and findings promptly.
- As part of the wider team monitor security alerts for incidents, classify and deal with them following established processes.
- Gather evidence and maintain documentation for security and compliance audits.
- Collaborate with other teams in the business to ensure security best practices are in place and aligned with business policy.

- Strong problem‑solving abilities, at tackling complex issues with creativity and efficiency.
- Great written and verbal communication skills, capable of articulating technical concepts to different audiences (technical and non-technical).

- Proficiency in collaborating across the wider organization, adept at aligning with and addressing overarching priorities.
- A proactive approach to evaluating and improving existing practices, driving continual enhancement.

Technical Requirements:
- Expertise with Microsoft security systems including Defender for Cloud, Defender for Office and Purview.
- Expertise with device management and security.
- Expertise with data security tools.
- Experience with Apple Macs and related security tools.
- Understanding of the security requirements relating to ISO 27001.
