Our client is a global leader focused on delivering mission-critical, low latency infrastructure solutions for high-performance trading environments. They are looking for a highly skilled Platform Specialist to join their talented team and ensure the highest levels of availability, performance, and security across their low latency platform.
In this role, you will:
- Design, document, and enhance platform services including servers, storage, and cloud infrastructure.
- Provide L3 escalation support to troubleshoot and remediate performance and availability issues.
- Collaborate with internal and external partners including network, application, quant, and business teams to deliver scalable solutions.
- Proactively identify potential system bottlenecks and implement performance tuning and optimisations.
- Manage and tune Linux systems (RHEL, Rocky, CentOS, OEL) for low latency applications, including memory, CPU, and network tuning.
- Work closely with low latency network technologies, including kernel bypass with Solarflare/onload, and understand physical server architecture differences (Intel, AMD, ARM).
- Automate operational workflows and scripting using Python, Rust, or Bash.
The ideal candidate will have:
- 8+ years experience in Linux system operations, engineering, or performance tuning in enterprise or trading environments.
- Experience with High Performance Computing (HPC).
- Deep understanding of network protocols (TCP, UDP, multicast) and low latency networking principles.
- Hands-on experience with kernel tuning and kernel development.
- Familiarity with configuration management tools such as Ansible, Chef, or Terraform.
- Strong scripting and automation skills, preferably Python, Rust, or Bash.
- Excellent problem-solving skills with a proactive and ownership mindset.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Nice to have:
- Knowledge of trade flow protocols like FIX, BOE, OUCH/ITCH, PILLAR, SBE, OMEX.
- Experience with FPGA-based applications and L1 network design.
- Familiarity with various network switch architectures and vendors.
