Overview
In this role you will own and evolve core production software in C++, helping a research-driven AI startup scale to customer deployments. You will shape the platform architecture, coordinating across the computational engine, Python backend, CAD integrations, and UI. You will turn research prototypes into robust, maintainable product capabilities and optimize performance, including GPU execution where relevant. You’ll reduce complexity, enable new features and integrations, and translate evolving requirements into practical design choices. This is a hands-on, influential position with the opportunity to steer technical direction in a small, highly technical team.
Responsibilities
- Design and develop production C++ software in collaboration with researchers and software engineers
- Shape platform architecture and define interfaces between computational engine, Python backend, CAD integrations, and UI
- Turn research prototypes into reliable, testable product capabilities
- Identify performance bottlenecks and optimize computational efficiency, including GPU execution where relevant
- Reduce codebase complexity to facilitate new features and customer integrations
- Translate evolving product and research requirements into implementable technical decisions from design to deployment
Key requirements
- Strong commercial C++ experience with a track record of delivering production software
- Experience owning substantial components or building complex software end-to-end
- Sound architectural judgement around interfaces, testing, performance and technical debt
- Comfort with ambiguous problems and ability to explain trade-offs behind decisions
- Ability to work across technologies; Python experience is particularly useful
- Self-motivated with enthusiasm for a small, highly technical team
- Confidence communicating trade-offs in ambiguous situations
