Principal Data Platform Architect - BI & Analytics
Β£70,000-Β£80,000 | Fully Remote within the UK | Permanent
We're working with a major global charity looking for a Principal Data Platform Architect to take technical ownership of its data warehouse, analytics and BI architecture during a significant Finance and data transformation.
You'll play a key role in designing how data from changing Finance/ERP systems and wider business applications is integrated, modelled and delivered through its central data platform, ensuring accurate, consistent and reliable reporting across the organisation.
This is a hands-on architecture and technical leadership role, combining long-term platform strategy with the practical design and delivery of solutions. You'll work within an existing Microsoft Fabric environment, collaborating closely with Finance, data governance, engineering and senior stakeholders.
You'll define architecture standards, make key data modelling decisions, challenge requirements where necessary and guide developers through implementation, without direct line management responsibilities.
Key Requirements
- Strong experience architecting and delivering enterprise data warehouses, data platforms and BI solutions
- Proven experience with Finance/ERP data integration, migration or transformation, ideally involving General Ledger and financial reporting
- Deep understanding of data modelling, including dimensional modelling, normalisation/denormalisation and semantic layers
- Experience with Microsoft Azure, Fabric, ETL/ELT, data pipelines and Lakehouse/Warehouse architecture
- Ability to translate architecture into practical implementation plans, considering migration, testing, costs and delivery complexity
- Strong technical leadership and experience working with data governance teams, Finance stakeholders and engineering teams
- Ability to challenge business requirements and communicate complex architectural decisions clearly
