The Role: UCN seeks a commercially minded and enterprising Senior Price and News Reporter to lead our seafood pricing and news coverage across the Nordic region, primarily focusing on Norway. This pivotal role is focused on building out proprietary datasets, breaking news and delivering in-depth reporting on key developments shaping the seafood industry in the region for a global audience. In addition to price discovery, you’ll turn your market intelligence into news and analysis for our global readership.
Key Responsibilities:
- Covering and enhancing existing datasets.
- Developing new benchmark seafood price assessments and coverage.
- Writing weekly market commentaries and contributing to our proprietary pricing platform.
- Using your beat to generate news stories, including but not limited to:
- Supply and demand shifts, and pricing dynamics.
- Market disruptions.
- Trade trends, regulatory changes and sustainability issues.
- Mergers and acquisitions, investments, and sector company news.
What You Need:
- 3+ years’ experience in commodities reporting, market analysis, or trade journalism.
- Proven ability to turn market movements into compelling news stories.
- Excellent sourcing and relationship-building skills.
- Highly numerate; comfortable using spreadsheets, charts, and trade data.
- Analytical thinker with the ability to assess market conditions and provide detailed statistical analysis.
- Fluent Norwegian required; strong proficiency in English (written and spoken).
- Background in seafood, agribusiness, shipping, trade or environmental policy, or energy markets preferred.
- Strong news judgment, sourcing ability, and understanding of B2B journalism.
