About Us
Under the Trees is now in its 15th year of providing positive experiences in the outdoors. We deliver a wide range of outdoor learning and wellbeing experiences, including topic-based wildlife and environmental education, Forest School, Forest Kindergarten, outdoor play sessions, guided wildlife walks, woodland wellbeing sessions, practical conservation sessions, accredited outdoor education training and more. We work with local schools, community groups and families and operate from outdoor locations across Falkirk, Stirling and Clacks, with a dedicated site near Falkirk.
Role Overview
This is an exciting and challenging role funded by the Inspiring Scotland Cashback for Communities Fund. You will work with and support young people aged 10–25 as well as working with other delivery staff, volunteers and placements. Working in partnership with the Outdoor Learning Officer, you will provide guidance and mentorship to engage young people with the outdoor, natural world and direct their attentions and energies away from activities that may harm local communities.
Responsibilities
- Assist with the delivery of the "Root and Rise – Rewilding Youth Futures" project, providing additional capacity and support to the Outdoor Learning Officer.
- Provide guidance and mentorship to young people to help them engage with outdoor, natural environments.
- Deliver activities such as bushcraft, conservation, outdoor cooking and nature‑based creativity.
- Provide training and guidance for staff with limited experience of these activities, supporting those who have experience working with the target service users.
Hours & Working Conditions
The role is office‑ and site‑based; home‑working is unlikely. You will work approximately 16 hours across a 2‑day week, with opportunities for flexibility.
Location
You will be based at our office in Grangemouth, Falkirk District, in Newhouse Business Park. The location has good public transport connections and is close to Falkirk’s Active Travel network, including National Cycle Route 76. Bicycles, including UK legal pedelecs, may be brought into the building for secure storage.
