The Role:
The Director of Content is responsible for overseeing the output of all video content across clients and campaigns that runs through the edit team. Reporting into the Head of Strategy, this role sits as the link between the strategy team and creative teams with the total output of the edit team. Ensuring the work is creatively strong, platform-native and content is produced in an operationally efficient manner at a high volume. They will provide creative direction, quality control and strategic oversight across edits as well as working closely with the Video Lead and Production Director to ensure social first edit principles are considered across the total process of content production. They will report back on data, performance and guide how content continues to improve.
The Director of Content combines strong creative instincts with a deep understanding of how social-first video content is captured, structured and edited to perform across platforms. The role will manage the Edit Lead who oversees all editors.
Responsibilities:
- Edit Leadership
- Oversee creative standards and output across Edit teams, quality assurance across all edits
- Ensure content is platform-native, engaging and socially effective
- Provide quality assurance and creative feedback across projects
- Support teams in balancing quality, pace and delivery
- Social First Content Development & Data sharing
- Champion best practice in social-first content production
- Ensure strong understanding of pacing, hooks, storytelling and retention within short-form content
- Support the development of content formats across TikTok, Instagram, Shorts and YouTube
- Bring new creative approaches, references and platform behaviours into the agency
- Bridging the gap of data in how the strategy team analyse performance of creative to feedback into the wider agency
- Team & Workflow Management
- Work closely with Video Leads, Edit Leads and wider Production team to manage workflows and priorities
- Mentor and support team across the department
- Help improve systems, workflows and collaboration between teams
- Support resource planning and operational efficiency
- Cross Department Collaboration
- Inform Strategy and Creative through to execution (Production) by analysing data and insights, feeding into creative teams for ideation and ensuring this is captured in all content (video and final edit) through the production process to deliver data led, social first content.
- Requires extensive collaboration with Strategy, Creative and Production teams from briefing through to delivery
- Ensure production and post-production considerations are embedded early into campaign development
- Support pitches and proactive creative opportunities where required
Qualifications & Experience:
- Strong experience leading video and post-production teams within a social-first agency, publisher or production environment
- Proven experience delivering high-performing social-first video content at scale
- Strong understanding of short-form social storytelling and editing principles
- Experience across both shoot and edit environments
- Experience with YouTube and longer-form content is desirable
