An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Senior Legal Counsel (Commercial) to join the in-house legal team of a leading international law firm in Leeds.
This is a senior role providing legal and commercial advice across the firm's global operations. Working closely with senior stakeholders and business teams, you will support a broad range of commercial arrangements, helping the firm navigate legal and commercial risks while enabling strategic business initiatives.
A key focus of the role will be supporting the firm's continued investment in technology and AI. As law firms increasingly adopt AI-powered products and solutions, experience advising on technology, SaaS and AI-related contracts, together with an understanding of the associated legal, regulatory and risk considerations, would be highly valuable.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide pragmatic, commercially focused legal advice on a broad range of contracts and commercial matters.
- Draft, review and negotiate a variety of commercial agreements, including supplier, technology, AI, consultancy, services and partnership agreements.
- Advise on the procurement, implementation and governance of emerging technologies, including AI solutions.
- Act as a trusted adviser to senior stakeholders and business teams across the firm.
- Support the negotiation of complex and high-value commercial agreements with key suppliers and strategic partners.
- Advise on contractual terms, liability, indemnities, warranties, confidentiality, intellectual property, data protection and technology-related risks.
- Work closely with procurement, finance, technology, information security, risk and compliance teams to support commercial and innovation initiatives.
The role would suit a commercially minded lawyer with substantial experience in commercial contracts and procurement, ideally gained within a law firm, professional services environment or large corporate organisation. Experience supporting technology transactions and AI-related projects would be particularly beneficial.
