A leading UK law firm is looking for a Risk Lawyer (Claims & Complaints) to join its Risk & Compliance function.

This is an excellent opportunity for a qualified solicitor with experience handling professional indemnity claims, complaints and regulatory matters, ideally gained within a law firm, professional indemnity insurer or a related insurance environment.

The successful candidate will provide specialist legal and risk advice across the firm, helping to manage claims and complaints, mitigate risk and ensure compliance with relevant regulatory and professional obligations.

Key Responsibilities for the Risk Lawyer (Claims & Complaints)

  • Manage and advise on professional negligence claims, potential claims and client complaints from initial notification through to resolution.
  • Provide legal and risk advice to partners and fee earners in relation to claims, complaints and associated risk issues.
  • Liaise with professional indemnity insurers, brokers and external solicitors on claims and coverage matters.
  • Assess potential exposure and advise on appropriate risk mitigation and escalation.
  • Advise on insurance, professional indemnity and regulatory issues affecting the firm.
  • Work closely with the firm's wider Risk & Compliance, General Counsel and insurance functions.
  • Support the development and review of relevant policies, procedures and guidance relating to claims, complaints, professional indemnity and risk management.
  • Keep up to date with developments in relevant legal, regulatory and professional indemnity requirements.

The ideal candidate will be a qualified solicitor with relevant experience in claims, complaints, professional indemnity or law firm risk and compliance.
