A prominent UK law firm is looking for an experienced Risk and Best Practice Manager to join their growing team in London. Reporting to the Senior Risk and Best Practice Lawyer, this role is an excellent opportunity for a proactive individual with significant experience working within risk and compliance and a strong understanding of the SRA Standards and Regulations, data protection law, and wider legal regulatory framework.
Key Responsibilities for the Risk and Best Practice Manager role:
- Provide advice to partners and business teams on professional conduct, ethics, regulatory compliance, data protection, and conflicts of interest.
- Collaborate with legal and business services leaders to assess risk implications of new business initiatives and strategic changes.
- Monitor and interpret developments in law and regulation, advising the firm on their impact.
- Manage and deliver key risk and compliance projects, ensuring milestones are met and improvements embedded.
- Support the Director and Senior Risk and Best Practice Lawyer in fostering a positive, solutions-driven compliance culture across the firm.
- Draft, review, and maintain risk management policies, guidance notes, and precedent documentation (including engagement letters and terms of business).
- Design and deliver engaging training sessions tailored to different practice areas and levels of experience.
- Prepare detailed briefing papers and present complex issues to the firm’s Risk Committee when required.
- Mentor and support junior colleagues within the Risk and Best Practice team.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Significant experience working within risk and compliance in a law firm environment.
- Strong understanding of the SRA Standards and Regulations, data protection law, and wider legal regulatory framework.
- Qualified solicitor (desirable).
- Experience leading or coaching team members.
