About the Role:
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior IT Network Consultant to join our team and deliver cutting-edge active and passive infrastructure systems for some of the world\’s leading companies. This role offers an exciting opportunity to collaborate on transformative projects with globally recognised brands at the forefront of innovation.
The ideal candidate will have expertise and experience in leading active and passive network system design, working with senior project managers, and a consultative approach to addressing client needs, making difficult decisions to keep the project within budget and on programme.
Key Responsibilities:
Client Engagement:
- Work with globally renowned clients to understand their networking requirements, business goals, and technical requirements. Projects may involve multiple disciplines and operate within varying timeframes, ranging from accelerated schedules of months to multi-year durations.
- Attending regular client meetings with senior project members, preparing meeting notes documenting relevant decisions and discussions.
- Lead interactive workshops with clients and project stakeholders in person or via video conference to gather requirements, refine designs, and align project objectives.
- Challenge the status quo to help clients discover optimal solutions for their workspaces, tackling hard conversations and making difficult but key decisions to ensure that complex projects stay on track, meet client expectations, and achieve optimal outcomes.
- Develop and nurture relationships with key external stakeholders, including project managers, consultants, and vendors.
- Identifying and pursuing business development opportunities with the assistance of the Commercial Director when they arise.
- Participate in presentations for prospective projects, contributing to securing successful appointments and partnerships for Uncoded.
Design and Coordination:
- Develop and own the design of complex network solutions, including LAN, WAN, SD-WAN, WLAN, and cloud-based networking technologies, ensuring integration with other relevant disciplines.
- Coordinating with mechanical, electrical, and architectural teams to align design requirements.
- Lead collaborative efforts with the wider Uncoded team to create coordinated technology packages for clients.
- Understanding when to undertake a task yourself and when to delegate tasks to the design team.
- Produce tender design information, including specifications, drawings (Schematic, Elevation, Layout, Axonometric), and client budgets.
- Research emerging technologies and monitor future trends to keep Uncoded and its clients at the forefront of technology.
- Engage with key manufacturers and vendors to stay updated on leading products.
- Support the QA/QC process to ensure the quality and accuracy of team members\’ projects
Implementation and Oversight:
- Oversee the installation, termination, and testing of active and passive infrastructure systems, ensuring compliance with industry standards (ISO, BS EN, ANSI/TIA), safety protocols, and best practices.
- Oversee the deployment and management of networking hardware and software, including routers, switches, firewalls, VPNs, and load balancers.
- Create and uphold drawing standards, including plans, elevations, and schematics.
- Conduct site inspections to determine existing conditions and extent of progress made by contractors.
Support and Validation:
- Ensure delivery of comprehensive documentation and O&M packages, including system manuals, schematics, warranties, and as-built drawings.
- Gather feedback to address any final adjustments and ensure client satisfaction.
- Engage with key manufacturers and vendors to carry out compliance and warranty site/project assessments.
Leadership and Management:
- Acts as a primary decision-maker on system designs, budgets, and vendor selections for large-scale, complex projects.
- Takes on a leadership role, guiding junior consultants and providing mentorship to less experienced team members.
- Drive innovation and excellence through thought leadership.
Qualifications and Experience:
- A degree or relative experience in Computer Science, Information Technology or a related field.
- Hands-on experience with major networking vendors such as Cisco, Juniper, Fortinet, and Palo Alto.
- Proficiency in cloud networking solutions (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) would be beneficial.
- Ekahau Certified Survey Engineer (ECSE) or equivalent qualification preferred.
- Strong knowledge of networking protocols (TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF, VLANs, etc). and security principles.
- Familiarity with IT/AV convergence and protocols (Dante, AV over IP, HDBaseT, NDI, SMTPE 2110) would be beneficial.
- 5 years of previous experience in consulting or proven experience in network design and implementation for corporate environments.
Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in the following software packages:
- Autodesk CAD and Revit
- Enscape; or other visualisation software such as Twinmotion.
- Manufacturer software to validate designs (Ekahau, Packet Tracer, etc).
- Bluebeam Studio.
- Microsoft 365, including Co-Pilot.
- Wrike; or familiar with other project management tools.
- Learn new software and applications as needed.
- Strong knowledge of networking systems and leading networking manufacturers/products.
Soft Skills:
- Represents the company at industry events, conferences, and forums to enhance the firm\’s reputation and attract new business.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a close-knit team.
- Willingness to travel to client sites as required.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and prioritise tasks effectively.

What Success Looks Like:
- Deliver projects on time, within 10% of Rough Order of Magnitude (ROM) costs resulting in positive client feedback leading to repeat business.
- Wrike workload utilisation is between 80-85%.
- Zero to few engineering change orders.
- Achieve targets and goals from quarterly 1-1\’s with your line manager.
- Projects are scheduled and time is 100% tracked and recorded in Wrike.
- Attend client and/or industry events.
