Our Vision 🎯 To empower every e-commerce business in the world to turn its data into instant access to capital. At Uncapped, we believe that traditional credit scoring is broken. Instead of relying on backward-looking credit bureau data, we are building innovative products that turn anything from sales data to stock levels, bank transactions to marketplace performance into actionable underwriting intelligence. This is not a side feature of our product. It is the entire business. We are moving fast, growing fast, and building the future of SME lending.

We need someone who can implement automations and process improvements iteratively, introducing changes with a clear vision of where we are headed, all while keeping the current engine running.

Role Overview 🚀 We are looking for a Director of Product to own the credit and risk product vision across the full customer lifecycle. You will be the connective tissue between our Risk, Engineering, Data Science, and Operations teams, ensuring our underwriting platform evolves from manual processes to highly automated, data-driven decisioning. This is a high-impact role in a fast-paced, high-growth fintech.

You will own the roadmap for how we ingest, assess, and act on alternative data to make lending decisions. You will be responsible for increasing automation rates, reducing decision times, and expanding our underwriting capabilities to new data sources, new geographies, and new products, including underwriting-as-a-service for acquired loan books. You will not be starting from scratch. We have a working platform, live products, and partnerships with the biggest online retailers and embedded lending partners. Your job is to make it dramatically better, iteratively, while keeping it running.

About Uncapped 👫 Founded in 2019, Uncapped is a fintech company focused on providing working capital to SMEs in North America and Europe. We leverage multiple data sources to make credit decisions faster, safer and more conveniently. We are working with the largest platforms in the world, including Amazon and Walmart, and strive to be the best alternative‑lender globally.

What Will You Do ✍️

  • Own the Credit Product Roadmap - Define and drive the product vision for automated credit decisioning across the customer lifecycle of all Uncapped products. Prioritise what gets built based on business impact, balancing quick wins with strategic bets. Translate complex credit related requirements into clear engineering specifications and measurable outcomes.
  • Scale Automation While Keeping the Lights On - Increase straight-through processing rates by identifying manual bottlenecks and systematically automating them. You will introduce iterative improvements to live underwriting workflows without disrupting existing operations.
  • Design champion/challenger frameworks - Test new decisioning logic safely in production.
  • Expand Our Data Advantage - Work with Data Science and Engineering to identify, ingest, and operationalise new alternative data sources (marketplace sales, inventory levels, banking data, platform performance metrics). Build the product infrastructure that turns raw data into actionable underwriting signals. Extend our models to support new products, geographies, and lending partners.
  • Drive Portfolio Performance - Own the feedback loop between portfolio outcomes and underwriting policy. Build monitoring and alerting systems that surface credit performance trends early. Partner with Risk to refine scorecards and decisioning thresholds based on real-world loss data. Ensure model governance and validation processes are robust and regulator-ready.
  • Manage Stakeholder Complexity - Navigate the intersection of internal teams (Risk, Engineering, Data Science, Finance, Operations, Legal) and external partners. Communicate trade-offs clearly to leadership. Ensure regulatory and compliance requirements (FCA, ECOA/FCRA where applicable) are built into the product from the start, not bolted on later.

Success Metrics (First 12 Months)

  • Increase automated approval rate while maintaining loss rates within agreed thresholds.
  • Reduce median decision time for straight-through processing.
  • Launch at least two new data source integrations that materially improve underwriting accuracy.
  • Implement monitoring and alerting that reduces manual portfolio review time.
  • Establish a clear, prioritised product roadmap with measurable milestones aligned to business targets.

Requirements Who you are 👀

  • You have deep experience in product management for credit or lending platforms, ideally with hands‑on exposure to automated decisioning systems processing high application volumes.
  • You are comfortable with SQL, can interrogate portfolio data independently, and have worked closely with Data Science teams deploying models into production.
  • You understand the tension between moving fast and managing risk in regulated financial services.
  • You have experience with at least one decision engine or credit automation platform, and you know how to design A/B testing and champion/challenger strategies for underwriting logic.
  • You thrive in high-growth environments where priorities shift, and you are energised rather than frustrated by ambiguity.
  • You have led cross‑functional teams and can operate at both the strategic level (roadmap, vision, trade‑offs) and the tactical level (writing specs, unblocking engineers, reviewing edge cases).
  • Experience in fintech or alternative lending is valuable but not essential. What matters most is that you understand credit products deeply and can ship iteratively in a fast‑moving environment.

Benefits What we offer 🎁

  • Unlimited holiday: we believe that well‑rested and happy people make the best employees.
  • Competitive compensation plan.
  • Personal growth fund: Raise your game from great to spectacular.
  • Monthly recognition and awards: Celebrate wins big and small.
  • The opportunity to make a big impact every day on the lives of European and US entrepreneurs.
  • Workspaces in Warsaw, London and Atlanta.

We can only consider applications from candidates who are eligible to work in the UK without requiring visa sponsorship.
