The Senior Director, HR is responsible for nurturing the company culture while driving high engagement levels within the organization, leading organizational and talent development strategies and representing Unboxed in the HR, recruiting, and talent development communities.

The role is also responsible for risk mitigation and HR compliance across federal and states guidelines.

Key Responsibilities

  • Talent Acquisition & Onboarding
  • Lead the full recruitment lifecycle, from workforce planning and requisition development through candidate selection, offer, and onboarding.
  • Partner with functional leaders to forecast hiring needs, develop effective job descriptions, and build onboarding plans aligned with business goals.
  • Build and maintain talent pipelines through job boards, agencies, community and college partnerships, and local market research.
  • Implement consistent candidate evaluation practices that support sound, equitable hiring decisions.
  • Talent Management, Development & Culture
  • Partner with people leaders to support the employee lifecycle, including onboarding, performance management, career development, role leveling, succession planning, and talent development.
  • Lead the performance-review process and support managers with goal setting, feedback, development planning, and leadership effectiveness.
  • Drive employee engagement, retention, well-being, stay interviews, exit interviews, and culture-building programs in a hybrid Saa S/services environment.
  • Support organizational design, change management, restructuring, training, and DEI-related initiatives that advance company strategy.
  • Employee Relations & Leadership Coaching
  • Serve as a trusted resource for employees and managers on employee relations, workplace concerns, performance issues, and interpersonal conflict.
  • Manage investigations, corrective actions, terminations, and other complex people matters with confidentiality, sound judgment, and appropriate documentation.
  • Coach people leaders on employee development, performance, organizational, and leadership matters.
  • Consult with outside employment counsel as needed.

Compensation, Benefits & Compliance

  • Conduct market research and support salary-review processes to maintain competitive, equitable, and operationally accurate compensation practices.
  • Advise people leaders on compensation recommendations and salary adjustments.
  • Partner with the Financial Controller, benefits broker, and vendors to manage benefits administration, annual open enrollment, employee communications, and benefits questions.
  • Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local employment requirements, including leave administration, HR reporting, documentation standards, and policy oversight.
  • HR Operations, Systems & Policies
  • Maintain accurate employee records and timely HR data changes, including new-hire, status-change, termination, benefits, pre-employment, and performance documentation.
  • Maintain and improve HR systems, reporting dashboards, processes, and scalable people programs.
  • Own the employee handbook and HR policies; regularly review and update practices to support compliance and organizational needs.
  • Analyze workforce data, including engagement, retention, and business challenges—to identify trends and recommend people-focused solutions.
  • Workplace Operations & Vendor Management
  • Ensure the smooth day-to-day operation of the Unboxed office and support workplace programs that strengthen employee experience and culture.
  • Manage relationships with HR vendors, including HR platform providers, benefits brokers, recruitment partners, and other service providers.
  • Manage and develop the Executive Assistant and Workplace Experience Manager.
  • 7+ years HR Generalist or related experience required
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience, master’s degree a plus
  • Professional in Human Resources (PHR) or SHRM-CP certification preferred
  • Experience recruiting sales, technical and creative talent in an agency environment
