A growing, service-led business is looking for a commercially minded newly created Supply Chain specialist to develop and manage its national courier network. Courier experience is essential. This is a varied, hands-on role, with a strong opportunity to progress at the centre of a growing operation. You will source and onboard courier partners, strengthen supplier relationships, improve coverage and capacity, and help develop a scalable, digitally enabled logistics proposition. You’ll work closely with Planning, Product, Technology and Marketing teams, as well as external suppliers, to support the continued growth of the company’s courier platform and marketplace.
What you’ll be doing:
- Growing and developing a resilient UK-wide courier network
- Managing 3PL (third party logistics)
- Identifying coverage and capacity gaps, sourcing and onboarding suitable suppliers
- Managing supplier performance, scorecards, review meetings and improvement plans
- Negotiating rates, service levels and commercial agreements
- Supporting suppliers to engage with a digital platform
- Improving marketplace performance and onboarding independent drivers/local courier businesses
- Monitoring service, analysing delivery data and resolving operational issues
- Ensuring supplier compliance, insurance, licences, audits and safety standards are maintained
- Supporting business continuity during peak demand and emergency-response activity
What we’re looking for:
- Experience in courier, transport, logistics or supplier-management environments
- Strong supplier relationship management and commercial negotiation skills
- Comfortable using performance data to identify issues and improvement opportunities
- Highly organised, proactive and able to work at pace
- Confident communicator with strong internal and external stakeholder-management skills
- Experience with digital logistics platforms, supplier audits/compliance or CIPS/IOSH qualifications would be advantageous
