We’re looking for an experienced Finance Manager to join Unbar Rothon Limited, a long-established and growing group of companies specialising in the food ingredients industry. Reporting directly to the Managing Director, you’ll oversee the financial management of four group companies, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and insightful reporting to support commercial decision-making. This is an onsite, flexible hours, part-time opportunity ideally suited to an experienced finance professional seeking a role with autonomy and variety within a supportive, values-led business.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare monthly management accounts and consolidated group reports.
- Develop detailed forecasts and budgets to guide strategic decision-making.
- Support accurate product costing, job, and customer profitability analysis.
- Provide financial commentary and analysis for board reports and management meetings.
- Manage VAT, corporation tax, and annual statutory returns in collaboration with external accountants.
- Monitor cash flow and working capital, ensuring sound financial control.
- Identify opportunities to improve profitability and operational efficiency.
- Oversee and mentor a small team of Accounts Coordinators, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
- Maintain governance, controls, and compliance with accounting standards.
- Liaise between time and attendance clerk, and 3rd party payroll service provider.
What We’re Looking For
To succeed in this role, you’ll bring both technical financial expertise and the ability to lead and support others within a small but high-performing team.
Essential Qualifications & Experience
- Qualified or part-qualified accountant (ACCA / CIMA / ACA) or QBE (qualified by experience) with demonstrable experience in SME environments.
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in a finance management, senior accounting, or controller role.
- Proven track record managing month-end close, P&L, and cash flow forecasting.
- Strong knowledge of UK accounting standards, VAT, and corporation tax compliance.
- Proficiency with Sage, Xero, or similar accounting systems and advanced Excel skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and a structured approach to financial control.
- Experience mentoring or supervising junior finance or accounting staff.
- Experience within a manufacturing, FMCG, or multi-entity business.
- Prior exposure to board reporting and commentary.
- Understanding of costing models, margin analysis, and profitability reporting.
