About the Role

The Research Services Manager – Monitoring Services (Europe) is an integral part of Latham’s Research Services Department. This role will be responsible for the management of the Department’s current awareness and monitoring services in Europe, while creating bespoke monitoring products leveraging multiple tools, technologies and information sources that are responsive to attorney and business services needs. This role will be located in either our London or Brussels office. Please note that this role may be eligible for a flexible working schedule that allows for a hybrid and in-office presence.

Responsibilities & Qualifications

  • Training Research Services colleagues to provide monitoring products that minimize the need for human curation in the monitoring process, where possible, by crafting creative and well-tailored underlying search parameters.
  • Developing and implementing standards and best practices for the delivery of current awareness and monitoring.
  • Managing aggregation platforms such as Vable and LN Newsdesk, and working with vendors to troubleshoot issues and maintain the integrity of the data.
  • Liaising with Technology & Information Services to develop internal solutions such as a current awareness dashboard for attorneys and business services, enabling colleagues to easily discover current awareness and monitoring products and providing a mechanism to self-subscribe.
  • Liaising with other business services where overlap exists to develop efficient procedures/communications to streamline processes and satisfy attorney and business services needs.

  • Exhibit superior monitoring skills and knowledge.
  • Possess the ability to lead effective training sessions for departmental colleagues and other business services staff.
  • Demonstrate strong teamwork and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact with individuals at all organizational levels, as well as excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to use independent judgment when making suggestions and decisions.

And have:

  • Legal and non-legal research knowledge and skills, preferably.
  • Relevant monitoring experience.
  • A bachelor’s degree or equivalent.
