We are actively seeking a Class 1 Shunter Driver/Yard Person keen to take up a career within one of Europe’s leading food processing companies. This is an exciting opportunity to join a well-established team and learn new skills and gain new opportunities. This role would be an ideal position for a recently qualified Class 1 Driver who is looking to gain experience and be trained.
Responsibilities:
- Working within the Transport department to ensure the movement of trailers is carried out in a timely and efficient manner.
- Liaising with different departments and coordinating sub-contractors’ vehicles.
- Ensure you fully understand and comply with company requirements regarding Health and Safety and Hygiene, including PPE.
- Operate all equipment in a safe and efficient way according to all relevant legislation, policies and procedures.
- To provide trailers for loading for both Retail/Abattoir & remove when loaded.
- To supervise yard activity, and position vehicles when not in use safely in the yard.
- To check temperatures of all trailers loaded on bays or on electrical points.
- To provide a list of trailers present in the yard to the Transport Manager.
- Fill in changeover list for the next shunter, i.e. what trailers are in the yard, what temperature they are running at, and where they are loaded for, and any empties.
