The Director of Management Accounts (DMA) is a high-impact leadership role within our UK business. Reporting directly to the Chief Financial Officer (CFO), the DMA serves as the strategic interface between the UK business divisions and the Management Accounts team. You will hold a seat on all UK Divisional Boards and will be directly accountable to each UK Board team for financial performance and insights.

Leadership & Strategy

  • Team Management: Provide direct line management for the UK management accounts team, overseeing roles across all UK divisions.
  • Service Excellence: Ensure the team delivers outstanding service through accurate and timely weekly estimates, monthly accounts, forecasts, and annual budgets.
  • Operational Influence: Act as a change agent by challenging the status quo and implementing pro‑active problem‑solving approaches.

Responsibilities

Core Responsibilities

  • Financial Reporting & Analysis: Working with the Director, Finance Reporting & Systems to develop new and existing reports in line with business needs. Communicate monthly financial management information and commentary for leadership and the Board. Prepare commercially‑sound variance analysis and ad‑hoc budgetary reports at Division/Market/Brand/Work‑Order levels. Verify the integrity of management accounting information and ensure consistent usage of the chart of accounts and hierarchy of Market/Division/Brand across the business.
  • Planning & Control: Manage, consolidate, and advise on Budget and Forecast procedures, including long‑term financial planning for the UK business. Assist the CFO in developing robust controls and processes to ensure uniformity of reporting and enhanced KPI tracking. Facilitate regular budget holder meetings with MDs and P&L owners to ensure disciplined budget management.
  • Strategic Support: Identify key business opportunities and threats by "getting under the skin" of the operations. Produce financial data for special projects, including due diligence and other CFO‑led initiatives.

  • Qualifications: Qualified Accountant with significant experience in producing financial information for senior management.
  • Leadership: Proven track record of leading, developing, and motivating teams while maintaining accountability.
  • Communication: Strong, confident interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate key concerns and control issues to the CFO.
  • Technical Skills: Advanced spreadsheet and business system skills with a high level of analytical accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Organisation: Exceptional planning and prioritising skills to manage complex team workloads.
